Super Visa
What is Super Visa?
Super Visa is a visit visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian residents and permanent residents to reside in Canada for up to 5 years, with a possibility of a 2-year extension upon the expiry of the initial validity period. This provision allows for parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a stretch without having to renew their status as against the regular 6-month duration of a visitor visa. The super visa is multi-entry and can be issued for a period of ten years.
Who can apply for Super Visa?
To be eligible for Super visa an applicant must be:
- A parent or grand parent of a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident.
- Must reside outside Canada when filing the application.
Eligibility requirements:
- Be a parent or grand parent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
- Have a signed letter from a child or grand child which who invites you to Canada, must include a promise to support financially during the period of stay, number of people in a household along with a proof of permanent resident status and or a Canadian citizenship status.
- Must have a proof of medical insurance of a minimum of $100,000 CAD paid in full and valid of at least a period of one year from the date of original entry.
- Must be admissible to enter Canada.
- Must take an immigration medical exam.
- Must meet other certain conditions such as ties to your home country, purpose of visit, family and finances, along with the economic stability on your home country.
Other requirements:
The child or a grandchild who invites you must also meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) and must provide the documents such as Notice of Assessments (NOAs), T4s, Employment verification letter, paystubs and bank statements to ensure eligibility for MNI.
